Exxon Mobil’s Woodlands campus already has several office buildings open and is slated to be complete later this year. The campus, which will house over 10,000 employees, is designed to be energy efficient and also to conserve water-in fact, through its focus on sustainability it will on average use 40% less energy then most office buildings! To encourage a healthy lifestyle for its employees, it will feature a 100,000 square foot wellness center. Exxon wanted to focus on keeping the landscaping natural and will have an outdoorsy feel, with trees, flowers, as well as several lakes on the campus. Along with the 10,000 employees the campus is designed to house, it will also feature retail shopping and restaurants. This will provide further jobs in the area. To bring in such a large number of outsiders into The Woodlands will be beneficial to many surrounding areas who have already started to prepare for the onslaught of people. Exxon also plans to be a major participant in the community, and to be active in local activities and charities. The Woodlands is becoming an internationally recognized place, and big companies such as Exxon are starting to notice. This is wonderful news for our master-planned community! With the addition of the grand parkway, and the completion of the Exxon campus this year, we are sure to see many new additions and friendly faces here in The Woodlands.
